Good sleep rarely starts at bedtime. It is shaped by what you do in the hour or two before your head touches the pillow. These five small habits are easy to try tonight.
1. Dim the lights after dinner
Bright overhead lighting tells your brain it is still daytime. Switch to lamps or warmer bulbs in the evening and your body gets a clearer signal that the day is winding down.
2. Set a screen curfew
Phones keep the mind busy long after you put them down. Try leaving yours to charge outside the bedroom 30 to 60 minutes before sleep, and swap the scroll for a book or a stretch.
3. Keep the bedroom cool
Most people sleep better in a cool room. In our climate that usually means a fan or air-conditioning set to a comfortable temperature, plus light, breathable bedding.
4. Watch the late caffeine
Caffeine can linger in your system for six hours or more. If you are sensitive to it, make your last teh tarik or kopi an early-afternoon one.
5. Create a wind-down ritual
A warm shower, a herbal tea, a few minutes of slow breathing. Repeating the same short routine each night helps your body learn what comes next. Some people like to include magnesium as part of that ritual, which is why we made Calm & Restore and Sleep Well.
The takeaway
You do not need to change everything at once. Choose one habit, give it a week and build from there.
